Zelenskyy Issues Stern Warning to President Biden

(NationRise.com) – Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a stern warning to US President Joe Biden on May 28 about his attendance at June’s peace summit in Switzerland. During a press conference in Brussels, Belgium, the Ukrainian leader said that failing to attend the talks would be like giving public applause to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelenskyy told reporters that the peace summit and the Western leaders who will participate in it need President Biden’s presence, as he’s Ukraine’s main ally and all NATO nations. The Ukrainian president also explained that President Biden’s decision to attend the event or skip it would be a clear message of whether he believes in peace in Ukraine or not.

When asked to elaborate, Zelenskyy claimed that if President Biden really “wants peace,” he’ll attend the event and deliver a speech about it, even if he disagrees with “certain details.” He also said that it would be important for the summit that more Western nations attend, as he said that Putin and the Kremlin are “very scared” of it.

The talks, which will take place on June 15 and June 16, will be aimed at finding a solution to the war in Ukraine, which started in February 2022 after the Kremlin decided to invade it. The main goal of the peace summit is to find a path toward peace in Ukraine, which many Western leaders have said will only be reached through a negotiation between Moscow and Kyiv.

While the White House has said that the United States will participate in the peace summit, it hasn’t clarified whether President Biden will attend the talks. Some political reporters have been saying on social media that White House sources believe it is highly unlikely that the US commander-in-chief will attend the event, as it will take place on the same dates as a campaign fundraiser.
