Tim Scott Claims Trump Has Done More for Minorities Than Biden Ever Will

(NationRise.com) – On January 24, South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott blasted those who had been criticizing him for endorsing former President Donald Trump. He even claimed that the Republican leader “did more for minorities” than US President Joe Biden has.

During an interview with Fox News, Scott, who is the only black Republican in the United States Senate, told anchor Laura Ingraham he didn’t expect so much scrutiny from the left for supporting Trump. He pointed out that while he feels surprised by the criticism, he expected the left “to lose their mind,” as he insisted that Trump has been doing more for minorities in the country than “Biden will ever do.” When asked to elaborate, Scott told Ingraham that the greatest example was the way the former president spent more money in historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) than any other commander-in-chief in United States history.

When Trump was president, he pledged unwavering support for these academic institutions. In 2019, the Republican leader signed a bipartisan bill to permanently provide over $250 million to the country’s HBCUs, as well as many other institutions that served large shares of minority students. The former commander-in-chief has touted similar accomplishments and has even claimed that his administration has done more for every African American community in the United States than any other president “since Abraham Lincoln.”

During the interview with Fox News, Scott touted Trump’s work on the country’s economy, sickle cell anemia, and unemployment among the African American population. He explained that Trump has shown he “likes everybody” and will always help white, brown, and black communities all over the nation.

The South Carolina leader, who suspended his presidential campaign in November 2023, officially endorsed Trump and said he was the best chance for the Republican Party to recover the White House and beat President Biden. Scott was even onstage with Trump after the former president won the New Hampshire primary on January 23.
