Death to America Chants Break Out at Anti-Israel Protest

(NationRise.com) – Anti-Israel activists chanted “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” during a pro-Palestine rally in Dearborn, Michigan on April 5. According to a video from the Middle East Media Research Institute, the chants marked Al Quds Day, which is known for being a moment of political activism where Muslims in every country around the world express their support for Palestine.

The video shows that the chants came after a Muslim activist named Tarek Bazzi ripped America for supporting the Israeli government in what he considered to be a “genocide” against Muslims and Palestinians in Gaza. He explained that, given the crimes committed by the Israeli military, the “most logical” chant in the world right now was “Death to Israel.”

Since the October 7 attacks on Israeli soil committed by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, Muslim and left-wing activists in the United States have expressed radical views in numerous demonstrations across some of the main cities. The situation has created a strong division among liberals, as some of them are pro-Israel, but some others believe that the Israeli government cannot be supported in its military operation in Gaza.

The division has been displayed in the Democratic Party, where some progressive politicians have openly criticized US President Joe Biden for standing with Israel and providing diplomatic and military support. Most of these are members of the so-called “Squad” in Congress, with many of them even saying that claims of rapes committed by Hamas were nothing more than Jewish propaganda.

In the rally, the chants of “Death to America” took place after Bazzi cited former Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini’s words of pouring chants and shots “upon the head” of the United States. The political activist also claimed that the entire American system needed “to go,” as it didn’t “deserve to exist.”

The White House responded to the event, with press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirming that President Biden condemns the chants.

Over the last few months, the Michigan city, which holds the biggest Muslim population in the country, has become the epicenter of the anti-Israel and pro-Palestine sentiment in the country. In a February op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal, MEMRI director Steven Stalinsky said that Dearborn could be considered the United States’ “jihad capital.”
