Biden Admin Mulling $18 Billion Arms Sale to Israel

(NationRise.com) – President Joe Biden is considering sending a new $18 billion package of armaments and munitions to Israel as it continues fighting Hamas militants in the region. The move stands in stark contrast to Biden’s condemnation of the war and civilian casualties so far.

The package notably includes over two dozen Boeing-built F-15 fighter jets and other weapons. It will also include training for Israeli forces. Yoav Gallant, Israel’s defense minister, asked the government to expedite the delivery during an in-person meeting in Washington, D.C., during the last week of March.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee and its chairman, Michael McCaul (R-TX), approved the request on January 30th. By law, Congress must review purchases of armaments by foreign militaries before they can be approved. Sources said that Biden supports Israel’s request for the package.

The government has also openly said that it is concerned about Israel’s efforts in southern Gaza. Civilians have fled to the area as the conflict continues. Some US officials have criticized Israel for the number of civilians who have died since it began, although Israel has taken measures to warn civilians initially.

John Kirby, a spokesman for Biden’s National Security Council, has been more critical of Israel. He condemned the country for a recent incident that killed seven aid workers. He called for a more thorough investigation into the strike quickly. He also called for investigators to make their discoveries public. He also noted that over 200 aid workers have died since the conflict began.

Kenneth Roth, director of the so-called Human Rights Watch organization, claimed Biden is helping Israel as it’s “bombing and starving Palestinian civilians.” Far-left Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) also accused the Biden administration of demanding fewer civilian deaths from Israel while also sending them more munitions.

Biden has consistently been attacked by the far-left for his ongoing support of Israel as it fights Hamas after its surprise attack in October 2023 that killed over 1200 civilians. Members of the so-called “Squad” have been especially critical of Israel and Biden’s support for the country.
