Trump Makes Big Request

(NationRise.com) – Former president and Republican nominee Donald Trump met with independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on July 15 to request his endorsement. Journalists on social media explained that while the meeting between the two political leaders was cordial, Kennedy didn’t accept to endorse Trump.

Following the meeting, Kennedy campaign press secretary Stephanie Spears confirmed that the two political leaders discussed numerous issues related to the country’s national unity and how to reduce the current polarization. Spears added that Kennedy appreciated Trump’s willingness to have a meeting and hoped that he could have many more with Democratic leaders.

She also said that Kennedy wasn’t suspending his presidential campaign, despite many rumors that claimed that the independent candidate was considering the possibility as he allegedly believed he had no chance of winning the election. Spears explained that Kennedy had plenty of chances to become president, as she said he was the only anti-war, pro-choice, and pro-environment candidate who beat the Republican leader in “head-to-head-polls.”

Political analysts said that Trump’s intention to have Kennedy endorse him was a good move as the conservative leader knew that the independent candidate could get votes from him. They added that Trump is trying to capitalize on the current feud between Kennedy and many members of the Democratic Party, who have described him as a puppet.

The reunion between the two political leaders took place in the wake of the assassination attempt on the Republican leader during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Many said that if Trump got killed, the United States would have been on the brink of a civil war.

A couple of hours after the meeting, Trump urged the US Department of Homeland Security to provide a Secret Service detail for the independent candidate. The former president explained that, given his family’s history and what he went through, it was “imperative” for Kennedy to receive protection from the Secret Service.
