(NationRise.com) – New York City Councilwoman Susan Zhuang hit the headlines last week when it emerged that she allegedly bit a police officer while being arrested at a Brooklyn protest. Residents had gathered to protest the establishment of a new homeless shelter – one of dozens of such facilities in the city. Locals argue that new facilities would not need to open in additional neighborhoods if the city was not already overwhelmed by the presence of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens.
On Wednesday, videos of the protest went viral on social media, including several showing an altercation between members of the public and New York Police Department officers. In one video, Councilwoman Zhuang can be seen in an altercation with police officers when they attempted to place her in handcuffs by reaching over a barrier. According to PIX 11 News reporter Henry Rosoff, Zhuang was eventually arrested – despite efforts by locals to prevent the arrest – and was accused of biting a police officer on the arm.
Councilwoman Zhuang is extremely popular with New Yorkers who oppose the radical agenda being forced on residents by Democratic officials. Former Republican NYC mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa praised Zhuang in a video shared on July 17, telling his followers that he was proud to stand alongside her in defense of the residents of Gravesend and Bensonhurst.
“Mayor Adams has forsaken these communities after locals demanded this all-male homeless shelter NOT be built in their residential community, already burdened with quality of life issues,” Sliwa said.
Videos and photographs shared online, however, could put Zhuang’s reputation at risk. If the claims turn out to be true, then Zhuang could have caused serious damage to one police officer’s arm. Stills from a video of the incident appear to show the councilwoman opening her mouth as a police officer reached toward her, and one photograph also shared online appears to show the officer’s arm with a large, mouth-shaped wound.
