Schiff Turns on Biden: “Time For Him to…”

(NationRise.com) – Before President Joe Biden announced that he was stepping down from the 2024 presidential race on Sunday, July 21, the president was facing intense pressure from well-known members of his party.

Last week, Representative Adam Schiff of California’s 30th congressional district came out in support of the president stepping down. His comments came as the party experienced extreme division, with many high-profile figures, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, calling on the president to drop out. Meanwhile, progressive leader Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed her concerns about the president stepping down and what it could mean for Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a statement to Fox News Digital on Wednesday, Schiff publicly expressed his concern that President Joe Biden would be unable to beat former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election and called on him to step down. Schiff made it clear that, while he liked Biden as a president, he was more concerned about the impact that a second Trump presidency may have on America, claiming without evidence that Trump would “undermine the very foundation of our democracy.”

Schiff’s comments are significant, and ultimately, he proved to be on the winning side of the argument. Currently sitting in the House of Representatives, Schiff is considered one of the top two Senate primary winners in California and could ultimately take the vacant seat left behind by the late Senator Dianne Feinstein.

While Schiff made it clear that he was supporting the wing of his party that wanted a newer, younger, and more capable candidate, he also praised Biden for his work in the White House. The California representative said that Biden was “one of the most consequential” presidents in America’s history, claiming that he had made the lives of Americans better during his time in office.

In what could have been a convincing final blow to Biden’s re-election hopes, Schiff added that the president could “secure” his legacy by dropping out now and being known as the president who beat Donald Trump once…rather than beating him once and losing to him the next time.
