(NationRise.com) – English-born Canadian actor Chris Gauthier died on February 23, with no cause of death revealed. In a statement, his management confirmed the actor’s death in the morning hours, at the age of 48, after a successful career where he became a famous figure not only in moves but also in memorable TV series.
Gauthier was mostly known for his roles in Smallville, Supernatural, Eureka, and especially Once Upon a Time. However, he also had significant appearances in films such as Watchmen and Freddy vs. Jason, which became an absolute success at the box office.
According to a Deadline report, his sudden death was a shock for his fans and family, as he had recently recovered from a brief illness that hasn’t been explained so far. In the statement, TriStar Appearances/Event Horizon management said that Gauthier was a “dear friend” who always cared for his beloved and tried his best to make everyone happy. It added that, as a “Vancouver-based actor,” Gauthier shared his acting skills and talent with many people in the movie industry and television.
The management explained that his death is felt not only by the actor’s fans but also by those who were “lucky enough” to be their friend and know him personally. TriStar Appearances/Event Horizon ended the statement by asking everyone for a moment of privacy on behalf of his family.
The news of the actor’s death affected many of his co-stars. One of these was Once Upon a Time’s Colin O’Donoghue, who was one of Gauthier’s closest friends and expressed his grief on his Instagram account while sharing a tribute to the Vancouver-based actor.
O’Donoghue, who played the role of the captain to Gauthier’s character William Smee in the TV series, posted a statement saying he felt deeply “heartbroken” after hearing the news about his death. He added he will always remember him, and said he will always be the “real captain” in his heart.
