(NationRise.com) – Actor Hugh Jackman’s wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, spoke with a media outlet on September 26 for the first time since they broke up. The situation occurred after the radio duo Jackie O Henderson and Kyle Sandilands called the 67-year-old Australian by accident during their show and were surprised when she answered.
When she picked up the phone, Sandilands said they had called her by mistake and emphasized that this wasn’t prepared. He explained that he felt “it’s too soon” and didn’t want to be involved “in anything.” Further, he told Deborra-Lee they loved her and asked her to call them whenever she wanted to have a chat.
The actress thanked the hosts and said she really appreciated their kindness before hanging up. These were the first words the actress delivered live on air after she and Jackman shocked the entertainment world by announcing their divorce following 27 years of marriage.
In a statement published on People, the ex-couple said they felt blessed by sharing nearly three decades in a loving and “wonderful” marriage. They also wrote that their journey was shifting, which is why they decided it was better to separate ways to pursue their own “individual growth.”
The couple, who share two children, added that their family will always remain their “highest priority” and explained they are undertaking this new chapter in their lives with love and gratitude. Further, Jackman and Deborra-Lee said they appreciate how their fans have understood their situation and respect their privacy during this “transition.”
Jackman is known for being one of the greatest actors of this century, with memorable performances in movies such as “Prisoners” and Christopher Nolan’s “The Prestige.” Deborra-Lee is considered a great actress in her own right, who already starred in 20 films when they met during a shoot in ABC’s 10-episode series “Correlli” back in 1995. She recently appeared in “Force of Nature: The Dry 2,” where she played Jill Bailey.
