Former Star Athlete Dies Suddenly at the Age of 33

(NationRise.com) – Former NBA player Darius Morris died on May 2 at the age of 33. Authorities found his body lying in a Los Angeles area but provided no details about his death. In a statement, his family asked for privacy and said they are trying to move on after such an unexpected tragedy. The family added that they feel a great “sadness” over the loss, explaining they want to go through a moment of “transition” with “privacy and grace.”

While Morris’ career was short, he was always considered a promising player who could have become a superstar and dominated the league. However, many journalists have said that he failed to meet expectations and ended up having a career that didn’t end up being what many analysts predicted.

Morris’s career started in 2011 when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round. While the seasons he played at the Lakers weren’t bad, the team decided to sell him in 2013 to the Philadelphia 76ers. After a short period with the Lakers, Morris went to numerous NBA teams, such as the Brooklyn Nets, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Many experts explained that the Sixers’ decision to let him go was surprising as he became one of the team’s most important players. Morris even delivered some great performances and gave 2.6 assists per game, with a 42 percent of accuracy on 3-pointer attempts, and 6.9 points scored per game during the 2013-2014 season.

After playing in those teams, Morris decided to leave the NBA as he didn’t receive any attractive offer. He then played on numerous teams in the leagues of France, Russia, and China. The point guard even played in the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, and the LA D-Fenders in the NBA’s G League before retiring in 2020.

All the teams he played with posted their condolences on their social media accounts and expressed their support for Morris’ family.
