(NationRise.com) – Miami police arrested Rapper Travis Scott on June 20th on charges related to public intoxication and trespassing.
Scott, 33, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was incarcerated at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center early in the morning with two bonds. One was set at $500, and the other $150. Police allege that Scott was yelling at several people on a yacht while smelling strongly of alcohol. Police told him to sit down, but he continued yelling at the boat’s occupants. He was then told to leave the Miami Beach Marina or face arrest. He did walk away but continued yelling.
However, he came back a few minutes later and headed towards the boat. Police caught up with Scott and placed him under arrest. Authorities also said he became “erratic” while speaking with a sergeant.
Scott was just leaving a charter boat when the altercation began. The boat’s owner said he does not want to press charges.
Scott’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, said he was detained “briefly” and noted that no physical violence was involved. He also expressed gratitude for the authorities’ willingness to work with his office towards a fast resolution. Cohen called the arrest a “misunderstanding.”
Scott published a brief Tweet confirming that his arrest will not impact his upcoming Maximus tour. He has been released from jail. Details of whether he’ll need to appear in court have not been released.
He also published an Instagram story about the arrest. It featured an edited version of his mug shot that included him smiling while wearing sunglasses and headphones. He is also selling a t-shirt featuring his mugshot with the caption “It’s Miami,” a quote from his conversation with police. The shirt was listed for sale online just hours after he was arrested.
Scott also released a shirt featuring his mugshot after he was arrested in 2017 for inciting a riot during one of his performances in Arkansas. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct the following year.
