(NationRise.com) – A congressional source recently told Fox News that the number of illegal migrants “gotaways” has radically increased to almost two million during the administration of US President Joe Biden.
The source, who spoke under condition of anonymity, told the conservative network that 1.9 million illegal immigrants have escaped into the United States’ interior since the Democratic leader entered office. They also revealed that the non-detained docket from Immigration and Customs Enforcement has skyrocketed to 7.4 million cases, and it will hit eight million before 2025.
A couple of hours after the source’s revelations were published, the chairman of the Congress Committee on Homeland Security, Mark Green, blasted the Biden administration in a statement. He said that the numbers revealed not only Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas but also President Biden’s commitment to make open borders a “reality” in the United States. Green also claimed that while numerous laws passed by partisan majorities in the House of Representatives made it clear that every illegal immigrant must be detained, Mayorkas and the president have overseen their mass release.
Political analysts have said that the issue with the so-called gotaways is that agents of the Customs and Border Protection usually do nothing and only watch them escape into the United States’ interior before taking action. They have also said that gotaways are different from other immigrants who illegally enter the country but immediately request political asylum after seeking out immigration officials.
Data reported by the CBP revealed 1.6 million gotaways were recorded entering the United States between 2021 and 2023. The number is significantly higher than all gotaways reported from 2010 to 2020, during the administrations of former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
