(NationRise.com) – According to a July 15 poll from Morning Consult, 34 percent of registered Democrats believe that the assassination attempt that the former president and Republican nominee Donald Trump survived was staged.
On July 13, a 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to kill Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, but only managed to pierce the former president’s ear before being neutralized during his shooting. However, he killed one Trump supporter and severely injured two others.
In its survey, Morning Consult detailed that one in three Democrats believed it was “credible” that the shooting was planned and never had the objective of killing Trump. Meanwhile, only 45 percent of respondents said that the theory wasn’t credible at all and that every piece of evidence suggests that what happened in the campaign rally was indeed an assassination attempt. Many political analysts said on social media that the results showed that many liberals have fallen into the so-called “BlueAnon” conspiracy theory, which claims that Trump and Republicans planned the shooting to boost his popularity.
Over the last few days, many Democratic activists or commentators on the mainstream media have been suggesting that the former president did stage the shooting. One of these was Democratic mega-donor and President Joe Biden’s ally Dmitry Mehlhorn, who sent a memo to journalists, asking them to spread the BlueAnon conspiracy theory directly.
To make it happen, Mehlhorn specified that they should portray the assassination attempt as a false-flag operation. He even asked them to spread the narrative that Russian President Vladimir Putin was the one who told Trump how to do it, as the Russian leader has been accused of executing these types of operations over the last few decades.
Following the shooting, many experts said that the United States would have been on the brink of a civil war if Trump had been killed, as the country is currently experiencing one of the worst polarizations it has ever suffered.
