(NationRise.com) – A Joint Intelligence Bulletin from the US Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation warned of more violent attacks against political leaders. The bulletin was published right after the assassination attempt that the former president and Republican nominee Donald Trump survived during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The bulletin stated that some violent “extremists” across the country could execute “retaliatory acts of violence” as a response to the assassination attempt. The four-page document added that the FBI is vigilant about the threats from people who are looking to undermine the presidential elections in November. The bureau added in the bulletin that it strongly encourages the American public to report any suspicious activity they believe could end up being a threat.
The intelligence document also detailed that extremists have plotted or conducted numerous attacks against those whom they perceived to be ideological or political rivals. The four-page bulletin was shared with numerous law enforcement and intelligence agencies across the country.
The document didn’t name any political party or leader that could be facing an imminent threat after the assassination attempt that Trump survived. However, it explained that many individuals have been threatening to commit acts of violence in numerous online communities.
The former president was shot by a 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks. A video of the moment shows the conservative leader delivering a speech at the rally when shots started to be heard, and he suddenly touched his ear as one of the bullets pierced it. He was immediately taken down for protection by members of the Secret Service.
Authorities said that a 57-year-old man named Corey Comperatore, who is a Trump supporter and was attending his rally, died after receiving two of the bullets shot by Crooks from a rooftop nearby. Two other rally attendees are severely injured after also receiving gunshots.
