He emphasized that Bill Cobbs will always be his “big brother” and expressed hope that he has found “peace and eternal rest” with the Lord. Thomas Cobbs also fondly recalled the last time the entire family was together, on his brother’s 90th birthday, a celebration filled with love and happiness.
Cobbs was not just an actor, but a significant figure in the entertainment industry. His extraordinary performances in some of the most famous films and TV series of the 21st century, including A Night At The Museum and The Sopranos, left an indelible mark. His ability to deliver a natural and great performance, regardless of the genre, was a testament to his talent and dedication.
Over the last few years, he has been acting in some series, most notoriously in the Canadian series Dino Bana, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award back in 2020. Cobbs was the main character, playing a charismatic elderly neighbor who became the heart and soul of the series.
Cobbs was born in 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, and served in the American military for eight years as a radar technician for the United States Air Force. His first steps as an actor took place at the Kamaru House in Cleveland, which is known for being one of the most important black theaters in the United States at the time.
The actor eventually moved to New York City, where he started to be part of the local scene in numerous theaters before having an opportunity on The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, which represented his first onscreen appearance. Over the next five decades, Cobbs starred in some iconic films such as The Color of Money, Air Bud, and even The Bodyguard.
