(NationRise.com) – Longtime rapper Snoop Dogg (Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.) has shocked fans and pundits alike after praising former President Donald Trump.
Broadus, 52, praised Trump for doing great things and said he has nothing but “love and respect” for the former president during an interview with The Times in the UK. He also expressed gratitude for Trump’s pardoning of Michael Harris, who co-founded a record label with Broadus. Harris was facing drug-related charges.
Broadus has previously been highly critical of Trump in both his music and interviews. His scathing rebukes primarily began in 2017 with the release of his music video for “Lavender.” The video shows Broadus aiming a gun at a clown dressed as Donald Trump. He wrote an entire song deriding Trump later that year. Trump responded to the video on X (then Twitter) by hinting at “jail time.” However, he also shared a story covering Broadus’s new opinion on Truth Social.
He heavily criticized Trump again in 2019 during the government shutdown. In the expletive-filled rant, Broadus admitted that he didn’t understand politics but still demanded that federal government employees withhold their votes for Trump.
Broadus also roasted Trump during an episode of Comedy Central Roasts. The episode was filmed near the beginning of Trump’s presidential candidacy. Ivanka Trump was present in the audience during filming.
Broadus isn’t the only liberal celebrity with a change of heart. Far-left comedian Michael Rapaport recently said that voting for Trump is “on the table” if the American left continues supporting antisemitic sentiments. Rapaport has also ranted extensively against Trump and his presidency. However, he also admitted that he would continue to insult Trump even if he votes for him.
Celebrities aren’t the only ones expressing a change of mind. Several Democrat politicians are condemning the Biden administration on a host of issues ranging from border security to economic turmoil ahead of the 2024 presidential elections. However, he still remains the frontrunner for the Democratic party’s nomination.
