Robert Kennedy Jr. Launches Presidential Bid

(NationRise.com) – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. officially announced on Wednesday morning his bid for the 2024 presidential election, representing another rival for President Joe Biden in the Democratic Party’s primaries. This was expected as he already filed paperwork to run for the White House two weeks ago. Kennedy Jr is the second Democrat to officially announce a presidential bid after Marianne Williamson launched her presidential campaign in March.

While President Biden is expected to seek reelection, it remains unclear when he is going to announce his bid for a second term. Earlier this month, he told Al Roker during an NBC interview that he’s planning to run but he’s still not prepared to make the announcement.

According to a Suffolk University/ USA TODAY Poll, the nephew of former US President John F. Kennedy is supported by 14 percent of voters who backed the president three years ago. Experts believe this is a surprising number considering that Kennedy Jr is mostly known for his anti-vaccine stances and conspiracy theories, in addition to his famous political name.

The survey, taken between Saturday and Tuesday, showed that 67 percent of voters who backed Biden in 2020 said they would vote for the president again in the primaries. Fourteen percent said they would do it for Kennedy Jr., while five percent said they were going to support Williamson. So far, 13 percent remain undecided, but things could change since many other Democrats are expected to announce their presidential bids.

According to David Paleologos, who is the director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, the son of Robert F. Kennedy Sr. drew the support of 33 percent of the president’s voters who don’t approve the job of his administration. Paleologos added that he’s also drawing the support of 35 percent of Biden voters, who say the president’s policies have been too extremist.
