(NationRise.com) – Former United States Ambassador to the United Nations and former Republican South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley criticized GOP Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. She disagrees with the way he has handled his feud with entertainment juggernaut Disney, pointing out he showed having “thin skin.”
During an appearance at the podcast “America 180,” Haley told host David Brody that the worst aspect of this controversy is that the Florida Governor took $50,000 “worth of contributors” from the company before their feud. She also said DeSantis took Disney’s lobbyists and executives and put them on some of Florida’s main boards. She asserts it’s absurd the way he enacted the largest corporate subsidies in the state history for this company and Florida before all of this happened, but now will show “thin skin” and even file a lawsuit that will cost the taxpayer money when they start criticizing him.
On the podcast, the former South Carolina Governor also said that Florida’s legislation prohibiting the teaching of gender in some school grades didn’t go “far enough.” Haley then urged the Florida Governor to resolve the Disney conflict so that his state’s businesses may resume their regular operations.
Haley believes DeSantis must solve this feud with Disney as soon as possible, pointing out he just has to “pick up the phone” and have a meeting with the company’s executives. Florida’s businesses need to be able to normal life.
The Florida Governor’s ongoing feud with the entertainment juggernaut started in 2022, when Disney denounced the state’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law. The company’s special status, which had granted it control over the Reedy Creek Improvement District since the 1960s, was later revoked by DeSantis, creating a controversial scenario where many companies and political figures on both sides of the aisle have criticized him.
