(NationRise.com) – Former Vice President and Republican presidential candidate Mike Pence said on June 24 that anyone who is pro-life in the US must also be “pro-adoption.” During a speech at the first anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Pence said this was a day to “celebrate” and reinforce their commitment. He noted that conservatives needed to support women in delicate “pregnancies with resources” and help the unborn and newborn as “never before.”
The former vice president explained that Republican voters in America must work every day to elect leaders who will always stand for “the sanctity” of human life. He added it wasn’t enough to elect presidents or senators as he said conservatives should elect these candidates at “every level.”
About the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Pence said this was a crucial and symbolic moment as it took five decades of “innocent life loss” to make it happen. He also noted that its overturning occurred because many conservatives pushed for it.
When discussing abortion in the country, the presidential candidate claimed he would stand “for babies” and their “unalienable right” to live and exist. He added he has always stood for all mothers’ and fathers’ rights to experience the “inexpressible joy” of being parents and raising children. Pence pointed out this is why he fully supports families who “open their hearts” to adoption.
In his speech, Pence explained that conservatives and pro-lifers should never “relent” in this fight. He noted that the “cause of life” is the calling of this moment, pointing out that America would never be able to bring back the 62 million babies who weren’t born because of Roe v. Wade.
Over the last few months, many conservative leaders have supported a nationwide abortion ban after 20 weeks. In addition to Pence, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott has been the only GOP presidential candidate to support this measure.
